Senior Concepts, previously Heritage Program, is a professional department of Cushing Regional Hospital that provides individualized treatment to older adults who suffer from psychiatric, emotional, or behavioral disorders. The program offers patients the opportunity to improve their quality of life by reducing distress and increasing their ability to function independently.

Senior Concepts is an outpatient mental health treatment program that provides intensive treatment Monday through Friday. A licensed multidisciplinary treatment team provides treatment. Patients are treated in the least restrictive environment and are able to return home each afternoon.

The elderly and their caregivers have unique problems and needs. Physical decline, loss of independence, safety concerns and multiple losses are just a few of the concerns that requires special attention and are contributory to depression and other mental health issues for the elderly. Health care professionals have identified that emotional problems decrease the ability to cope with the natural aging process.

Senior Concepts for Senior Adults offers psychiatric intervention that can improve the quality of life for the elder adult and their families. Treatment modalities are designed to meet the unique needs of elder adults in a daytime treatment program. Treatment is supervised by a Psychiatrist and provided by a fully licensed staff including Registered Nurses, Social Workers, Licensed Professional counselors, Certified Therapists and Mental Health Technicians.

Admission

Senior Concepts provides a clinical evaluation at no cost to determine the need for treatment. Physicians, health care professionals, human service agencies, clergy and/or concerned family members or friends can make referrals.

A psychiatrist, in collaboration with the primary care physician, will determine the diagnosis and recommended appropriate treatment prior to admission to the program.

Transportation

Complimentary transportation to and from the program is provided for those who are unable to drive themselves. A wheelchair lift is available for those who need it.

Payment

Medicare and some private insurance plans cover our services.
