Cushing Regional Hospital | 1027 East Cherry, Cushing, OK 74023 | (918) 225-2915
Diabetes classes are offered monthly in a four part series that provide education on basic facts about diabetes, meal planning and carbohydrates, food labels, exercise, diabetes medication, glucose monitoring, preventing complications, problem solving, sick day plans and stress. Small group size allows more individual involvement in discussions about concerns and struggles with diabetes and feedback from others on how diabetes affects them.
Classes are taught by highly-trained registered dieticians and registered nurses with extensive ongoing education in diabetes. The program also includes guest speakers such as exercise specialists and certified and licensed pedorthists who present on foot care and diabetic shoes.
Each patient can benefit from our program with diet, exercise and medication adjusted to fit his or her lifestyle. Through small group sessions and one-on-one support, patients learn the skills they need to take control of their diabetes and live healthier lives.
